Possible inconveniences
Hungarian pusta is a vast, open, grassy, dry plain stretching in the basin of Tisa river surrounded by the Carpathians from a few directions. It is mainly covered with cultivated fields and pastures but the area is amazingly rich in wildlife. Warm temperatures and abundance of food mainly account for this. Apart from dry steppes we can also find here river floods, fishponds and wet rice fields. They make a good habitat for marshland and water birds. Below you will find a list of species which we can photograph during the trip. During the trip we will photograph wildlife from permanent hides (some of them with one-way glass), pop-up hides, from the car and from a boat.
Specieslist: birds: ruff, white egret, purple heron, hoopoe, grey heron, night heron, squacco heron, lesser grey shrike, syrian woodpecker, green woodpecker, red backed shrike, glossy ibis, red footed falcon, cormorant, lesser cormorant?, roller, great crested grebe, kestrel, bee-eater, little owl, long eared owl, kestrel, whiskered tern, nightingale, stilt, spoonbill, golden oriole, wryneck, coockoo
reptiles and mammals: roe deer, brown hare, european pond terrapin (tortoise).
Photo sessions will take place in early morning (4.00-10.00) or late afternoon hours (17.00-21.00). We will take advantage of the best light and also avoid hot midday. During the rest of the day we will have time for meals and time to relax (swimming pool!) or rest. You can also photograph butterflies in the garden. We will implement the itinerary in 2-3 paralell groups. Rough itinerary below, the final one will depend on wildlife situation.
